MIRACLE STORY #5: A man having everything is not always a happy man

The story that has been presented here is based on real life. However, the identity of the person will not be revealed due to the nature of the story and also may hamper their future as they have already recovered from their problems. This story should be used as a story of motivation and learning rather than being used for negative reasons.

An adult who has been married for nearly 17 years who has all the things he want in life; a job that pays well, a nice family and a good house to live in could also experience unhappiness and pain. This is exactly what happened to one of my clients. He told me himself that he had everything materialistically in life but could not find that inner happiness within himself. He was not satisfied with himself.

We had four meetings together, just four. In those four meetings, I found out a lot about him that he wanted to that he could not. Although his job paid handsomely, his interest was in painting. He wanted to paint and draw but he could not do that in his past which was one of the reasons that was bugging him. He told me about all his frustrations and even cried in front of me while telling them. It was because he had not shared this with anybody not even his wife. It showed me that even the richest man in the world could be unhappy from the inside. He did not have anyone to share this problems and worries with and that is also one of the reasons why he felt sad of his life.

I told him to go to various spiritual programs such as Art of Living which will provide him some sort of fulfillment that he is looking for. As already mentioned above, I only met him four times and after that he told me that he was happy and felt better than before. He changed himself in those four meetings and I was happy to see that in him.

MIRACLE STORY #4: Helping someone find himself.

The story that has been presented here is based on real life. However, the identity of the person will not be revealed due to the nature of the story and also may hamper their future as they have already recovered from their problems. This story should be used as a story of motivation and learning rather than being used for negative reasons.

This fellow was in his mid twenties and had taken medication regarding depression for six years. When you take medication for depression, it usually puts you to sleep because in depression you want to be alone and do not want to talk to anybody. However, that does not mean giving medication which will put you to sleep for the whole day is the answer. You need to interact and communicate with somebody to talk about your situation. He was trying to get help but the help he got from the medication was not enough. He was from a rural village in Kalikot district. He had quit his studies due to depression and started taking medicine thinking it would help him.

I met him and started giving counselling to him. I found out that most of the people in depression do not accept life as it is rather they object it. If they do not embrace themselves then they are in denial and everything that comes to you is negative. That is one of the reasons why depression occurs. With my help and his persistence, it took some time but he managed to get out of depression.

The last time I was in contact with him, he was planning to open a library in his home district. This shows the transformation that he has changed and is involved in something that he loves.

MIRACLE STORY #3: Patience is a virtue

The story that has been presented here is based on real life. However, the identity of the person will not be revealed due to the nature of the story and also may hamper their future as they have already recovered from their problems. This story should be used as a story of motivation and learning rather than being used for negative reasons.

Drugs are something that will make your mind dull. This story revolves around a student who was studying in 12th grade and was a drug addict. He was a hardcore drug user and for him doing drugs was how he spent his day rather than going to school. For this student, the more he took the more he wanted.

It took a long time for me to get him off his addiction. I mean he had done everything from heroin to brown sugar. This was more about getting him of his addiction and then helping to get his life back on track. As soon as he would try to get off drugs, the relapse would be so high that he could not control it and soon went back to it. This happened one time after another for five times as he could not handle the relapse. However, as time went by and the more I dealt with him through my spiritual based counselling, he started taking it easy and not panicking. This took about 5 years as he slowly got off his drug addiction but he was confused to how to carry on in his life and was dependent on me all the time. We got very close together that he used to call me 'Ma' every time we had a conversation. He told me that he needed my help to carry on forward otherwise he will be helpless. It was like holding a hand of your own child and letting go of that hand when you knew he was mature enough.

It took him two more years to complete his + 2 examinations but he did it and also finished his Bachelors degree in the next four years. It was quite an achievement for him as one day I called him feeling that he had done something good and that exact day he had got his result of his final exams. He had completed his Bachelors and told me that I had guessed correct that he had done something good. Now, I am proud to say that he is in Australia pursuing further education and every time I hear the word 'Ma', I know it is him.

MIRACLE STORY #2: Building an intimate connection

The story that has been presented here is based on real life. However, the identity of the person will not be revealed due to the nature of the story and also may hamper their future as they have already recovered from their problems. This story should be used as a story of motivation and learning rather than being used for negative reasons.

This story reflects around a medical student who had a sudden change of heart after wanting to take her life. He was a medical student studying at an established medical college. His age was around 22 years old. In medical school, he thought he heard people backbiting about him and making thought were making devious plans. This really made him sad and kept him in a depressed mood. He felt that he was being judged by everyone. He was starting to feel more and more insecure about himself that he had started losing hope.

It got to the point where I got a call from him at midnight. This was my first contact with him. I was surprised as he told me about how he started feeling helpless and insecure. There was no way that he could carry on from that point so he had decided to take his life. He added that he had  medicinal pills lined in front of him and was going to take it all unless I helped. I could hear the background of someone telling him to open the door as I assumed he had closed the door as well. I could feel his emotion as he told that nobody understood him. I talked to him and calmed him down. He told that he was going to throw away those pills and later flushed them in the bathroom. I consoled her by saying that you have to move forward and the people you feel that judge you is only temporary. I also added a couple of things that made him feel comfortable.

He felt a little more relaxed and told me he was going to go back to college and finish his medical degree. After that incident he frequently visited me to take advice and how to move forward. I felt some kind of intimacy to him that bonded us together. Whenever I called him and asked him is something bothering he would have that exact feeling of something bothering him or sometimes I would call and assume that something has gone right he would tell me he had passed his exams or got something good done. There is always a connection. Right now, he is doing really well and has completed his medical degree to become a doctor.

MIRACLE STORY #1: Transformation of confused Adolescent to confident Youth

The story that has been presented here is based on real life. However, the identity of the person will not be revealed due to the nature of the story and also may hamper their future as they have already recovered from their problems. This story should be used as a story of motivation and learning rather than being used for negative reasons.

This first story is about a young boy, a student studying in Grade 10. He was a good and attentive student. There was no problem in his attendance as well as his academics at that point. As he was in Grade 10, he was preparing to give his S.L.C. (School Leaving Certificate) examinations. One day, this student came up to me and said that he was not feeling like himself. This continued for a couple of days and after talking to him I found out that he felt he was not attractive enough. He was feeling sad that he did not have any girlfriends and had this feeling that no girl felt attracted towards him. This was something which bothered him so much that it started having an effect on his studies as he was paying less attention in classes. He could not talk to anybody about this especially his friends as he thought they would embarrass and make fun of him . It was sad to see him in this situation because he was starting to doubt himself as he thought nobody will like him again.

After seeing this and talking to him, I found out that this is a phase for him. As a growing adolescent, various thoughts come into your head and especially about your beauty and sex which tend to dominate these thoughts. You think about others and their actions influences yours as well. I talked to him for weeks and told him to concentrate on himself rather than others. This was not the time for him to think about making girlfriends and he does not need to worry about what others think of him. He needed to focus on his studies and that is the only way that is going to take him forward because he was giving his S.L.C. exams.

This boy recovered from this and passed his SLC with decent marks. Now he has grown from a confused adolescent to a confident youth. He also passed his high school HSEB +2 examinations. Right now, he is currently admitted to an engineering college and is doing fine in his life.
